The Competition

We were accepted to compete in SpaceX’s Hyperloop Competition in the summer of 2018. We competed and managed to return achieving 5th place overall and also winning an Innovation Award in this competition which has been termed "The Olympics of Engineering and Innovation".

Irish Representation

We hope to show the world that Ireland is among the leaders in innovation, engineering and technology.

Feat of Engineering

In order to accelerate the development of functional prototypes and encourage student innovation, SpaceX announced the Hyperloop Pod Competition in 2015.

Only 5 other European Countries

One of 6 European countries including Scotland, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and Spain to make the final cut.

A Recap of 2018

The following video demonstrates the success of last year's event in the SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, California. Read more about the competition on SpaceX's own website or feel free to read the ruleset of the competition!

What is the Hyperloop concept?

The Hyperloop is a mode of transport that will completely change the way we travel in the near future. It is a proposed mode of passenger and/or freight transportation, first used to describe an open-source vactrain design released by a joint team from Tesla and SpaceX. The concept's inception brings us back as far as 2012, when Elon Musk first publicly mentioned the concept as a "fifth mode of transport". Hyperloop will allow for transportation at nearly the speed of sound. At a top speed of 1260km/h, passengers will be able to travel from Dublin to Galway city in only 11 minutes!

Read Initial Concept Paper

This is the initial concept paper written by Telsa and SpaceX in 2013 detailing the potential transportation mode that could revolutionise transport.

Mission Statement

We aim to represent Ireland as a hub for engineering, innovation and technology and to reach out and inspire others to do the same.
