Éirloop is the first team to represent Ireland in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition. Coming together from over 6 different universities across the island, we are on a mission to show the world that Ireland is among the leaders in innovation, engineering and technology.
Éirloop came 5th out of over 800 teams competing worldwide in 2018. Ireland was one of only 6 European countries represented during the finals at SpaceX headquarters, California. We were also awarded a special innovation award based on our early performance and the unique design of our pod. This year we are back to achieve even more!
The Hyperloop is a proposed mode of freight/passenger
transport in which the pods/capsules travel within a vacuum sealed
tube. This allows them to reach tremendous speeds as they can
disregard resistances. The implications of the coming system will
be huge for the future of travel!
"Faster than a plane, more convenient than a train"
Elon Musk initiated the Hyperloop competition in 2013, inviting students from all over the world to submit designs and build their own Hyperloop Pods.
Our members come from over 6 universities in Ireland and study a range of disciplines, including Engineering, Business, Science and more!
Éirloop is a true driving force behind STEM education in Ireland. We hope to inspire a younger generation of students and improve the prospect of future STEM research, development and study.
